Tuesday, May 19, 2009 - Honolulu, O'ahu - 81 - Sunny

We flew into Honolulu early in the morning and tried to rent a car from the millions of car rental places. Most were out of cars, so our choices were a soft top Jeep (which we couldn't lock our luggage in), or a H3 Hummer. We took the red Hummer and drove across the island to the North Shore to Dillingham Airfield. Here we had to wait a long time, but we were going skydiving! They suited us up, and we got back in the plane. We flew over the North Shore (Sunset Beach, Turtle Bay, etc.) to a height of 14,000 feet. This was 3 times as high as the mountains there, and above the clouds! Then we jumped out of the plane, had a freefall of about 50 seconds, and then about a 5 minute parachute ride back to the Earth. We got it all on DVD and photos, so that everyone will have to believe us. It was very scary to jump out of a plane when you couldn't see what was even on the ground. We drove back to Honolulu to Pearl Harbor, which was closed at 3:30 in the afternoon. The USS Missouri was open though, so we toured it. We learned a lot about Navy life, which seemed very rough. After that we went to Wakiki Beach to the Ala Moana Mall to a few stores. We ate at Bubba Gump shrimp, and then went to Hard Rock cafe before returning to the airport.
